The Blessing

The blessing at the end of the communion service pronounces God’s favour and goodwill.

Dismissal

The communion service ends with the dismissal. It emphasises that worship leads on naturally to our daily life in the world. Worship is not something isolated from the rest of life, but something which determines the way in which the whole of life is lived. At the end of the Eucharist Jesus sends us out just as he sent out those twelve disciples to carry on his work. ‘Go in peace therefore to love and serve the Lord!’
