Twelve dramatic resources for all age, and family worship, or school assemblies

As with many churches nowadays we find that there is a continual need for stories, poems and short simple dramatic presentations for worship or school assemblies. There is a great deal of excellent material on the market but they sometimes demand resources, time and skills unavailable in many. The stories, sketches and poems that follow do not pretend to be literary or dramatic masterpieces. In fact, when you've read them, you may decide that you could improve upon them. I encourage you to do so. The merit of these pieces is that they have been tried out and found to be successful in our local churches and schools - mostly with very little rehearsal. Moreover, they have been devised for grassroots participation with the intention of communicating basic Christian teaching in a memorable way. Sometimes we have used them to illustrate or introduce a more conventional sermon and at others we have let them stand in their own right. I hope you find them both entertaining and challenging. All these may be freely used in a local church or school but please ask written permission from me if you wish to distribute them elsewhere. Some have been already published by the Church Pastoral Aid Society or in Together with Children, the magazine published by the National Society.
